Drawings 2012 – 2014
These drawings began as small studies in a notebook I always carry with me. As a way to practice hand–eye–paper coordination, I would draw a pattern of marks on my bus trip to and from the studio. The bus being bumpy and the pen being leaky, I had to develop strategies to maintain control and to welcome accident. These “bus drawings” eventually outgrew the notebook and the bus. The paper surface became larger at the same time that the marks got smaller. I began working with structural lines and ink washes.
