As an artist-in-residence at the University of Arkansas Fort Smith, I was given the time and space to pursue all forms of artistic practice. For three months I employed combinations of drawing, painting, photography, and design to create several bodies of work. Along the drive from my home in Michigan to Fort Smith, I stopped along the way to invite new objects along for the adventure. And the nearby Arkansas communities had no shortage of flea markets, garage sales, and thrift stores to add to my treasures. These drawings and works on paper ranged from quick studies of color and form to more complex works on top of photo prints. These three months proved to be among the most productive of my life.
