ALTMAN chronicles the extraordinary career of my all-time favorite film director Robert Altman. Like most books on significant filmmakers, this volume covers all of Altman’s work. But this is no ordinary history. Instead, we have the singular vantage point of Altman’s wife Kathryn who witnessed the entirety of Robert’s career and participated in much of it. Throughout the book’s pages scrapbooks, intimate anecdotes, interviews, and reprinted classic reviews and essays all mix together. So rich was the material we were given that this book could easily have been twice as long.
