THE CG STORY is a highly illustrated, exhaustive survey of computer-generated effects in the motion picture industry, from the earliest experiments to today’s blockbusters. The pattern fields of dots that I use as a primary design element were all shaped and styled using analog means — printing out the patterns on paper, folding and curling the pages and finally photographing them in the warped state that you see in the book. This analog project combined with the digitally created chapter numbers creates a subtle clashing of styles which helps make this book so much fun.
