The New Machinery is an ongoing photo series of what I’ve called “photographic science fiction.” The series began in 2015 as a collection of modest studies through which I developed my basic working method that straddled digital and analog processes of photography, construction, and translation. In 2018, the work expanded in scale and complexity. I refined my process of composition, attaching a multitude of small photo prints by hand and then translating the cobbled piece back into a digital format. This working method has influenced my graphic design projects, and toggling between analog and digital has become a signature feature of my design and art process.
